Spring is a fantastic time to
visit. The flowers are in bloom and the island is a mass of vibrant colour; deep red of the wild poppies and the
bright yellow of broom complementing the soft violets. At this time of year, Corsica is lush and verdant, the rivers
full, making it the perfect time to do some sightseeing, try some of the sports and activities on offer, or take part in one of the many special interest holidays. The weather
in April and May can be a little changeable, but it
is unusual to day a day without some sun.
June is the ideal time
to visit. Average temperatures rise and the seas is warm and inviting. The scent of the maquis fills the air and
the summer flowers are starting to bloom. At this time of year Corsica is still relatively quiet, and there is
nothing better than finding the beach to yourself where you can watch the sun set over the water. June is the perfect
time for walking and other
activities, or simply for exploring the local sights.
July and August are the hottest and naturally the
sunniest months with temperatures soaring. The forests and mountain villages provide welcome relief from the heat
if you should tire of the picture-postcard beaches, and there are plenty of opportunities to try all sorts of watersports or other activities
In September and October, he island is warmed by mellow
sunlight, and the hills are carpeted with cyclamen, autumn crocuses and an incredible range of funghi. Towards
the end of September, the colours change from lush green to yellows, deep oranges and velvet browns. A great time
to experience the Autumn flora and fauna or take to the hills
with a walking holiday. Corsica
is once again quiet, and the sea is lovely and warm for swimming. |
