Accommodation in Corsica

For somewhere that is relatively unspoilt as a holiday destination, there is a surprising choice of holiday accommodation in Corsica.

One of the first things people normally ask is 'which is the best area?', and unfortunately that is almost impossible to answer! If you have visited before, you'll generally have a good idea which area you want to be in, but for a first time visit my advice would be to find a property to suits you and then investigate what the surrounding area has to offer, because most things; sports, activities, beaches, wild and beautiful scenery, atmospheric towns and nice restaurants can be found in all the areas.

If you're looking for good value for money, it is generally cheaper to book your accommodation direct rather than through a tour operator. Listed below are some of our favourites, but for a full range of villas, houses, apartments and hotels that can be booked direct with the owners, visit

Holiday accommodation in Corsica generally falls into 5 categories;

Apartments in Corsica

Whether you want to be near the town, on the coast or a bit more inland, there's bound to be an apartment to suit you. For couples, it is nice to have something like the Apartment Acacias which is just a simple little one bedroom apartment in the heart of Calvi, so you don't have to worry about driving in the evening. Families often prefer to be in a small group like the Residence Marie-Diane in Propriano or Les Terrasses des Oliviers where there is a chance that the children will find new friends. However, if you just want some peace and quiet, you can still find a little corner like Apartment Battini in Sant'Ambroggio which is set amongst landscaped gardens, but still just a few minutes walk to the beach.

Villas in Corsica

La Piazza Ronda Casa Altiani

Corsica villas range from comfortable, modern, purpose built properties such as Villa Carpe Diem in Cappiciolo, to unique and charming properties that have been converted to unusual holiday homes such as La Piazza Ronda in Propriano. This beautiful house was once a wine tower, 45 metres in diameter, and has now been completed renovated and furnished with antiques. Also of note is Casa Altiani, an old masters house in the lovely village of Olmi-Cappella that has been completely refurbished with style and taste.

Village houses and apartments in Corsica

La Vieille Maison Maison Ceccaldi

These properties do tend to vary greatly in terms of facilities and price. You could choose a simple little house in the heart of the Castagniccia such as l'Alivu or Castagnu, or go for something a bit more comfortable like Chez Therese at the edge of Calenzana or the Maison Ceccaldi in Lama which is a beautiful mediaeval village in the north of the island, with fantastic views over the valley, and a pool and jacuzzi!

Hotels in Corsica

Hotel les Arbousiers

You can find the full range of hotels in Corsica for the 4* luxury (this is the highest rating in Corsica) to simple 2* family run hotels. Somewhere in between are the traditional Auberge like the Sole e Monti in Quenza which is renowed for it's excellent local cuisine. If you just want something that within walking distance of the town and beach, you can't go far wrong with the Hotel Les Arbousiers in Calvi. Rooms here start at just 49 euros (about £35) per night for 2 people on a bed and breakfast basis - that's what I call good value for money!

Chambres d'hotes (B&B) in Corsica

The number of chambre d'hote in Corsica has risen steadily over recent years as there are a growing number of people who want to experience real Corsican life, and what could be better than staying with a family. One such establishment is Antonia's B&B in Olmi Cappella. Antonia used to own the La Tornadia restaurant and when they sold it a few years ago, they decided to start a B&B. Antonia is a natural host, so friendly and welcoming, and you can even hire a donkey to help carry your picnic if you want to explore!

Special Interest Holidays

Corsica's varied and rich culture and heritage means that it is also an ideal place for people who want to experience a themed break such as walking holidays in the Tavaro Valley or a week of activities and excursions to help you to Discover the Castagniccia.

Whatever you want to do, you can do it in Corsica!
